Become a COVID Delivery Volunteer

ASSISTING THOSE IN NEED WITH CONTACTLESS DELIVERY & SMALL ERRANDS

Thank you for connecting with Naperville Responds to COVID, where Napervillians are coming together to help each other during this global pandemic. It has been widely publicized that this virus is especially dangerous to those who are elderly and/or immunocompromised.

Program – How it works

Our program strives to create a social connection between younger, healthy people and families (VOLUNTEERS) and those aged 65+ and/or immunocompromised that COVID-19 has shown to affect disproportionately (BENEFICIARIES).  Based on calls twice a week, the Beneficiaries may ask the Volunteers to perform the following services in the (Naperville) community:

  • Grocery delivery
  • Pet supply delivery
  • Takeout from restaurants
  • Small household items such as cleaning supplies, hygiene products, etc.
  • Medicine delivery

Each trip shall consist of goods less than $150 in total.  The DELIVERY PROGRAM is currently only available to those living in the following zip codes: 60540, 60563, 60564 and 60565. All participants must sign a waiver before participating in the DELIVERY PROGRAM.

Payment for delivered goods

Once the total amount of the errand is available, volunteer to call the beneficiary and ask for the total amount to be placed via check in the beneficiary’s’ mailbox or door immediately.  Payment via check shall be made out directly to the volunteer.  Direct payment can also be made to volunteer through Venmo, Paypal, Zelle or another form of electronic payment.  As a last resort, payment can also be made online through Naperville Responds website with volunteer’s last name in the notes section.  All receipts for purchases shall be delivered along with goods to beneficiaries.

Payment discussion must occur between volunteer and beneficiary prior to first trip.  Beneficiary is expected to pay for all services rendered prior to or simultaneously to items delivered.  There will be no exceptions and failure to comply will result in being removed from the program.

Once you have filled out either the Beneficiary or Volunteer section and signed the Liability Waiver someone at Naperville Responds to COVID will reach out to you in the next 24 hours and discuss next steps.

If you need the application to be delivered to you via mailbox, please text or call (773) 209-4531.  These responses may be delayed so website registration is preferred.
